Cliftons Farms is not trying to sell the cheapest beef. If we were we could sell you beef for half of what we charge and still make the same profit.
Our emphasis is in the quality of our beef. We want Cliftons Farms beef to be synonymous with high quality delicious healthy beef.
To make it affordable we eliminate the retail middleman and transportation costs.
The beef we produce has costs associated with it of course so we simply forecast those costs, add in a small profit and that sets the price. If you find cheaper beef there is a reason it is cheaper. The last thing you want is a freezer full of beef that tastes bad that noone wants to eat.
Because we only sell larger quantities, whole, sides, or quarters, the price/lb of the choicest cuts is averaged into the total price. This results in savings of around 75% off similar retail cuts that are bought individually. For example, the loin portion is the primal cut that contains the most expensive cuts of meat (T-Bone, porterhouse, tenderloin). If you were to buy the whole animal then you would bring home approximately 85 lbs of steaks from the loin. You will pay a little over $5/lb for those steaks. Compare that price to the price you will pay retail for 85 lbs of custom cut prime/high choice dry aged beef.
Similar savings on the other cuts of the rib and sirloin add up to a value that we think cannot be beat.
Of course you are paying a little more for the ground beef but the taste, ah the taste, will more than make up the difference. And when you cook our ground beef you will notice very little shrinkage. So you are actually getting more for your money. Wouldn't you pay a few cents more for hormone and steroid free beef anyway?
Quality and price determine value. We believe there is no better value than Cliftons Farms beef. Period.
